I have been informed by our maintenance tec's that they have retrieved a black box from one of the Carrion Crows destroyed mechs, it didn't contain any sensetive infomation but it did contain Interesting comm's from the "Battle of Woodstock"
I have yet to review these comm's but have been told it is quite amusing, in light of that I have sent it to all of our company to review.
11:35:28 ALPHA 1:"Anything coming up from behind?"
11:35:32 ALPHA 2:"Affirmative... I've got a Raven & Atlai moving on our six. They'll be within range in the next two minutes."
11:35:33 ALPHA 1:"SCREW THE JENNER, STALKER AT 12'OCLOCK !!!"
Oh fuck no I'm not watching that train wreck of a round again.
HOW DID WE NOT SEE A 60KPH ATLAS RUSH UNTIL THEY WERE RIGHT ON US
But that entire tournament we had to win drop 1 of every match because the light drop (drop 2) was a guaranteed loss for OMC back in the day. But yes, from day one we were discounted and ridiculed (lol like a non-na team can compete here) and placing second in LMS actually got us invited into the next season of RHoD. Unfortunately we struggled to get 8 competitive pilots and the move to 12 mans forced us to withdraw early into RHoD.
I remember one early morning shooting shit running the (then) lolstalker build with PPCs (lol ppcs aren't a comp weapon grimnar) with adrian and a couple others and we realised that there isn't much that can actually beat us in our element, we were facing the SJR and BSK guys regularly and stomping them at range. So we went and had a chat with fireside about putting a comp team together and after 4 FUCKING HOURS we finally came up with a grand total of 15 people we wanted to ask (out of about 300 members back then). It was a short lived run but basically overnight we went from "one of 2 australian groups" to a team who defeated the likes of SJR, BSK and QQ...hell we almost beat DV8 (arguable best NA team at the time) and multiple of their members later got game bans so take from that what you will. That said my head still hurts from trying to schedule against NA teams not used to playing weekends or even outside of their prime time, add to that the few teams who came out vocally after we beat them saying we shouldn't even be allowed in the NA tournaments
Personally I preferred the oceanic-centric 4 man tournaments. Nobody could stop us, ARMD came kinda close and despite Jay_Z proclaiming our weakness on his stream even his 4 man fell quick and hard to a drop deck we never modified across 2 tournaments OK that's a lie, we did swap the PPG phract for a PP10 phract but that was literally the only mech change
Teamwork is essential, it gives the enemy someone else to shoot at.
